May Asos and River Island Summertime Haul

The sun came out!!!!!

For a whole week. Now it's raining again.

But in that week I felt massively summery, and realised my wardrobe is basically full of grey, black and navy. Not exactly inspiring on hot days.

So I went on a huge online shopping spree which I couldn't afford but that's life isn't it.

My first buy was this gorgeous kimono, which was on sale at £10 from River Island. I realised I only have thick chunky cardigans which aren't really ideal for hot summer days, but I still like to cover my arms and shoulders up so this kimono was ideal. The material is lovely for the price I paid, and the length is just right.

These amazing retro looking glasses were £6 in the Asos sale. I love the cat eye shape, but the added mirrored "eyebrows" make a retro shape so modern. They are huge and oversized, and came with a free sunglasses bag which is always a bonus.

I have plenty of plain black and plain white t-shirts, but no lighter, more summery options. This cami is ideal (£10 from River Island). It has a slight swing shape to it, and adjustable straps. It's a silky sort of material which feels lovely and light. I'll be wearing this with black Levi shorts and my floral kimono.

And finally, my midi ring. This was in a pack of three from Asos, which was £5. I've wanted a midi ring for ages but everywhere is either sold out, or sells horrible over the top designs. I just wanted a simple silver band as I already wear a lot of rings, and this one is great. (Please excuse my horrific picked cuticles, no hiding them!)

I've also purchased a handful of new bikinis which I'll be posting about as soon I've got some pictures in the daylight. It may still be raining but it's summertime in my head!

Review - Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet

I must have read about a million Velvetine reviews since it came out in my deliberation over whether or not it's worth the price plus the international shipping fee. The reviews do vary quite a bit, but the pictures of beautifully matte lips won me over, and I decided I really did need this lippy no matter how many other red lippys I already have.

Once I finally found Genie Cosmetics, a UK retailer of Lime Crime (most are in the US meaning huge shipping fees and possibly customs) I had to order, and out of the two colours Suedeberry and Red Velvet the latter was the one for me.

That was Monday night, and tonight it's here!

The packaging is as beautiful as I'd seen, especially the outer box which has instructions for perfect application and wear written on the inside.

The doe foot applicator doesn't pick up too much product which is great as, with the cost of the product and the fact that the formula is unforgiving in mistakes, you want as little on the applicator as possible.

I applied the stain on bare lips without a lip liner, as basically I was too excited to do any prep. So my review will be based on that.

Application is easy - the product is thin like water from the bottle and a little goes a long way; I didn't redip at all. It's easy enough to get the desired lip shape by using the built in applicator alone, but I think for a more precise shape which I usually prefer, using a lip pencil before hand would be good.

I wore the lipstain while eating toad in the hole and drinking coke, and it stood up to it really well. There was a bit of colour loss on the inside of the lip which would need touching up, but it does say this inside the package so I was expecting that.

I have to admit I did find the formula slightly drying, especially on my lower lip, but again I expected this with a matte formula. This could probably be prevented by using a balm beforehand.

The colour is gorgeous, even though not really true of the shade in the swatch Lime Crime provide. It's a deep blue toned red which I really think would suit all skin tones.

Overall I probably would buy Red Velvet again, maybe even Suedeberry too as I think the value for money you get is great.

Have you tried the Velvetine liquid lipsticks yet?

Miss Selfridge Summer Collection 2013 Wishlist

Miss Selfridge have recently released their Summer Collection for 2013, which they describe as being made up of "casual folk-inspired separates and contrasting statement prom dresses".

After having a look, I'm basically in love with all the pieces and really really want to get my hands on a few for summer and my holiday to France in July. The prints and fabrics they've used are so pretty and cute that you can just imagine yourself sitting in a beach-side restaurant as the sun goes down, sipping a cocktail and catching the last few rays.

Now I know the black cut out boots don't really fit with the rest of the wishlist, but I've been desperate for a pair for so long now and these ones are just beautiful. I also think they'd be good for the days where you visit tourist attractions that require a lot of walking, paired with some ripped denim shorts and a loose white vest top - all with tanned limbs and tousled beach hair of course.
